The repair and recommissioning of the first 65MW unit at the Subarnarekha hydro power project has been awarded to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) of India by the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB).
The unit suffered a shutdown in July 1998. It is anticipated that BHEL would require at least five months to carry out the repair.
The Subarnarekha hydro project has two generating units rated at 65MW each, which had been functioning for four to five hours daily during peak hours.
