The biomass integrated gasification combined-cycle project has now secured all significant permits from the US state of Florida to allow start of construction of the facility.
The project will utilise the Rentech-SilvaGas biomass gasifier to provide synthesis gas to a combined-cycle power plant to generate about 55MW net of baseload electric power from about 930 dry tons per day of woody biomass.
The electricity generated by the facility will be sold to Progress Energy of Florida under a power purchase agreement, which has been approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.
Rentech has inked a term sheet with White Construction for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on the project.
The engineering work necessary to commence the project’s EPC phase is being finalized by White Construction and Ford, Bacon & Davis.
