ReNew Power Ventures, an independent power producer in India has commissioned a 143MW solar farm located in Dichpally in the district of Nizamabad in the state of Telangana.

The farm was inaugurated by G. Jagadish Reddy, Minister for Energy, SC Development, Government of Telangana. The site commissioning was also attended by Sri E. Ravinder Reddy, MLA from Yellareddy (Nizamabad), Sumant Sinha, Founding Chairman & CEO of ReNew Power, panchayat functionaries from the neighbouring villages, vendor partners and employees of the company.

Minister G. Jagadish Reddy while inaugurating the solar farm said, “The Government of Telangana is committed to providing good quality clean power to the industry and the people of the state. ReNew Power is one of the largest renewable energy investors in the state and has a proven track record.

This state-of-the-art solar plant, which has been commissioned ahead of schedule, will help us meet our peak power requirement this season.” Welcoming the initiatives taken by the government in the renewable energy sector, Sumant Sinha, Chairman and CEO of ReNew Power said, “It gives us great pride to partner with the Government of Telangana and play a leading role in its mission of harnessing the solar potential of the state. We thank Sri G. Jagadish Reddy for extending his support to ReNew Power and encouraging us by gracing today’s occasion.

The enabling environment of the state and the support that the administration provides makes Telangana an attractive state for the solar power industry. Over the next few months, we will reach an installed capacity of 510 MW in Telangana and our total investment will cross INR 3,70bn ($5.74bn). With more than 20% share of the solar energy industry, we are one of the largest players in the state.” Giving further details of the project, Parag Sharma, Chief Operating Officer of ReNew Power mentioned, “The Dichpally solar farm is the largest solar plant in Telangana and the first one to use tracker technology at such a large scale, which increases the power generation by 15% – 20%. It was commissioned in a record
time of 15 months; 3 months ahead of the schedule.”

During the construction phase, the solar farm employed more than 1500 people and after commissioning, it will provide direct employment to 350 people. The commissioning of the new plant has further strengthened ReNew Power’s position as a leader in the solar energy sector in the state with current installed capacity of 345 MW. ReNew Power is one of the largest, fastest-growing and well-funded renewable energy companies in India with an installed power generation capacity of more than 2 GW.

As a socially responsible company, ReNew Power is also working towards the development of communities around the solar farm in Dichpally. The company has sponsored a computer lab in the village school, which will benefit 300 students.

Besides this, the company is also working towards improving the infrastructure at the school and neighbouring aanganwadis, providing safe drinking water to villagers and organizing health camps. Overall, ReNew Power’s CSR activities have positively impacted more than 10,000 lives across 14 villages in Telangana.
