RX CPU is destined to become the mainstay of company’s business in serving the global embedded systems markets. The eight devices in 32-bit RX610 Group are advanced 32-bit solutions for the high-end office equipment, digital consumer products and similar applications that must run large-scale programs rapidly while attaining high performance levels. Thus, they supply strong 1.65 MIPS/MHz processing performance while operating at speeds up to 100MHz. In addition, the new MCUs do so very efficiently, consuming only 0.03mA/MHz CPU core current.
The new RX610 MCUs have up to 2MB of on-chip flash memory that can be accessed at 100 MHz in a single clock cycle to increase code execution. They also offer 32 KB of data flash memory with a background operation (BGO) function that allows data to be written at the same time a program is executing. The new chips comes in 144-pin LQFP and 176-pin BGA packages and integrate an wide range of built-in legacy, improved and new peripheral functions for system design flexibility. The new RX610 MCUs also attains low-power consumption operation with 0.5mA/MHz product power. To help the customers shorten the development cycles of new embedded systems, the company and third-party suppliers support the MCUs with various hardware and software development tools.
Development work on the additional members of the RX600 family is ongoing. Future additions to this product line will provide other memory and package configurations and include additional types of optimized peripheral functions for which there is a strong market demand. Simultaneously, the company is accelerating the development of the members of the companion RX200 family, MCUs that will meet the requirements of applications needing low-voltage operation and low power consumption.
