Under this agreement, Remy will supply its HVH 250 electric motors for use in Zap’s cars and sports utility vehicles globally, in addition to developing electric drivetrains using Remy motor for the automotive platform of Zap.

Remy’s patented High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) technology, which is claimed to provide enhanced torque and power density, is expected to deliver added speed, range and reliability to Zap’s electric vehicles.

The new supply and development agreement with US-based Zap, which has acquired 51% of Chinese auto manufacturer Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Company this year, provides Remy with a strategic partner in the Chinese EV market.

Remy that has supplied electric motors to brands like AMP Electric Vehicles, GM, Mercedes, BMW, Aptera and Allison Transmission has previously collaborated with Zap in the development of an electric postal delivery vehicle for the US Postal Service.
