The INR38bn project, with a total capacity of 1,200MW, was awarded to Reliance Infrastructure in January 2007 and is promoted by the Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGCL).
SC Gupta, director of operations at Reliance Infrastructure, said: “This project will not only benefit the state by adding 28.8 million units of energy per day but will also create 15,000 job opportunities in the field of construction, operations and maintenance.”
HPGCL carried out design reviews along with various consultants, including Central Electricity Authority, to ensure adequacy of the units to operate on indigenous coal with high ash content. HPGCL also engaged NTPC as the project consultant. The power equipment for the Hisar project has been imported from Chinese supplier Shanghai Electric.
