RIL has awarded this contract as a part of the expansion project carried out at the Jamnagar refining and petrochemical complex located in the state of Gujarat.

Reliance will apply the ethylene technology and proprietary SMK furnaces technology of Technip for the ROGC plant.

Technip Onshore Business senior vice president Nello Uccelletti said the company is an experienced contractor on licensing, designing and implementing grassroot mega-crackers for ethylene production.

"This contract reinforces our position as a major player in this field," Uccelletti said.

Technip Region A senior vice president Jean-Marc Aubry said the company expects to develop a long-term relationship with RIL for future developments in both onshore and other businesses.

"This award is a significant milestone for Technip in India," Aubry added.

RIL will integrate the ROGC plant, ethylene cracker, with its Jamnagar refinery complex, using refinery off-gas as feedstock.

The products from that plant will be use as feedstock for the new downstream petrochemical plants.

Technip is a project management, engineering and construction company for the energy industry.
