Hydro, which is currently conducting the development phase of the gas field, said that the contract value is estimated to be NOK40 million.
In a press release, Hydro revealed that the contract includes the detailed engineering of two 16 foot production lines that will connect the new template to the existing Ormen Lange infrastructure.
In addition, the work will include the detailed engineering of a six foot MEG line and an umbilical. The pipelines are planned to be installed in 2009, in water depths ranging from 850 to 880 meters. Hydro said that the work will continue until 2010.
Hydro commented that the work will be performed by Reinertsen’s engineering division in Trondheim. The oil company added that Reinertsen will use much of the same team that performed the pipeline detail engineering on the Ormen Lange phase one project.
According to Hydro, the Ormen Lange southern field development consists of one new template located 13 kilometers south of the existing template A.
