VA Tech Escher Wyss has won contracts for three hydro plant refurbishments in Italy from Endesa Italia.

The contract involves the supply of a total of eight turbines to three plants – Galleto, Baschi and Alviano – for a total of EUR 60M, about two-thirds of which will go to VA Tech Escher Wyss as JV leader. The projects are due for completion in 2009.

The company is responsible for the design engineering, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the Francis turbines.

A subsidiary of Andritz VA Tech Hydro, the company also recently won a EUR 20M contract to supply the E&M equipment for the Albbruck-Digern plan of the River Rhine in Germany.
