The chairman of Red Electrica de Espana, a Spanish electricity transmission firm, has revealed that the company is considering alliances with REN Redes Energeticas Nacionais, a Portuguese company engaged in the transmission of electricity and natural gas, to bid for tenders in Europe and Brazil, Thomson Financial has reported, quoting Jornal de Negocios as its source.

Thomson Financial reported Mr Atienza as saying that Red Electrica plans to bid for electricity grid privatizations and energy transport bids in Europe and Brazil, respectively, possibly via alliances with REN.

The report also quoted chairman Luis Atienza as saying: We are already in Bolivia and Peru…REN doesn’t have international experience yet, but it’s interested in gaining some.
