Energico is a system-design simulation tool that applies detailed chemistry technology to address the gas-turbine engineering problems related to emissions reduction and stability.

It makes use of chemistry to model combustion in a virtual environment to identify ways to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, thereby enabling companies to meet their clean tech goals.

Enregico, which represents a multi-year, multi-million-dollar-technology investment by Reaction Design, is inspired by the Chemkin combustion simulation package that was developed nearly thirty years ago at the Sandia National Laboratories.

Commercial and military gas turbine engine manufacturers use this technology to integrate alternative fuels with their products and to create designs with reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The upgraded Energico, which previously contained a detailed mechanism for natural gas, has now included a fully validated Fischer-Tropsch mechanism, which can also be used as a surrogate for Jet-A fuels used in aviation turbines, and the additional enhancements made for the handling of liquid fuels.

Reaction Design has developed the detailed chemistry mechanism for Fischer-Tropsch fuels as a part of a two-year liquid-fuel model-development program funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Reaction Design’s upgraded version of Energico release 30101 is scheduled for commercial release in August.
