Oil and gas firm Range Resources has completed the acquisition of Trinidad-focused Soca Petroleum.

Soca owns three onshore exploration and production licenses on the Caribbean island and has a fully operational drilling subsidiary.

Range said that the completion of the acquisition now triggers the commencement of an aggressive work program that is expected to rapidly increase production from the existing reserve base.

The company now moves towards its targeted production rate of 4,000bopd from existing P1 and P2 reserves from the current rate of 650-700bopd.

The program will also target the deeper (and potentially bigger) Herrera formation and untested areas.
