Rame Energy has signed a power purchase agreement with Empresa Electrica ERNC-1 for the Punta Chome wind project in Chile.

Chilean energy fund Empresa Electrica ERNC-1 has agreed to purchase all the energy generated from the 9MW Punta project for ten years from the start of operations.

The Punta Chome site is planned for construction in 2014 with power output anticipated in 2015.

Punta Chome is situated in Region VIII of Chile, about 270 miles south of Santiago, on a peninsula adjacent to the coastal town of Concepción.

Rame Energy has selected Denmark-based Vestas Wind Systems to supply three wind turbines for the Punta Chome project.

Vestas will supply, transport, build and commission the turbines with Rame undertaking its civil and electrical work.

Rame Energy CEO Tim Adams said the company will be involved in the construction of three wind projects in Chile totalling 24MW during 2014 and the binding terms for the output from its 9MW Punta Chome project represent an important milestone.

"We now have power purchasers secured for our entire 2014 wind portfolio, demonstrating both demand for power in Chile and also our ability to deliver on our strategy to rapidly develop a pipeline of wind projects."
