The project includes the construction of 765 kV grid sub-stations (GSS) in Jaipur and Kota districts in order to make the transmission network compatible to the planned increase in the generation capacity following the launch of 1,200MW thermal power station in Kalisindh, Rajasthan and the proposed 1,320MW super critical thermal power station in Chhabra, informed Jitendra Singh, Energy Minister.
Jitendra Singh added that Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RRVPN) has approved the project and the construction of the grid sub-stations and the network would end up in the next three years, and he also added that the government also intends to construct three 400 KV grid sub-stations in Ajmer.
Besides, the government also intends to construct three 400-KV sub-stations each in Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Bhilwara, informed Singh. In addition, five 220 kV substations were also proposed to be constructed at Bhadra, Baran, Kishangarh, Boranada in Jodhpur, Ranwal, and Bagru in Jaipur district.
In addition to the above 15 more 132 kV sub-stations at different places in the state are also under consideration.
Nareshpal Gangwar, chairman and managing director of Rajasthan State Vidyut Vitaran Nigam, informed that board of directors of the Nigam has approved a budget for 2009-10 of INR15.99 billion that is approximately 30.42% higher compared to the budget of last year.
