According to reports by the Vietnam News Agency, construction work has begun on the Quang Tri irrigation/hydro power project in the central Quang Tri province.

Formerly known as the Rao Quang project, the scheme, located on the Rao Quan river, is being built at an estimated cost of US$139M.

When completed in May 2007, the project will have two generator groups with a total designed capacity of 64MW, producing an annual output of 217.2MkWh. It will feature 529m high dam and a reservoir with a capacity of 163Mm3.
