Inspections of 33 dams, owned and operated by the US Bureau of Reclamation, indicate no apparent damage from the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the US northwest on 28 February.
Dam inspectors followed established emergency preparedness procedures and made visual inspections of each of the dams within about 480km of the impact zone. The dams are in a wide area that includes Washington, Oregon and parts of Idaho.
Washington dams include Bumping Lake, Dry Falls and Grand Coulee; while Oregon dams include Crane Prairie, A.R. Bowman, Ochoco and Three Mile Falls Diversion.
