The Indian state of Maharashtra has placed an order for a pumped storage hydropower plant with Nissho Iwai Corp, Fuji Electric Co and Bharat Heavy Electricals.
The plant will have a generating capacity of 250 MW and is expected to cost $62 million.
The storage project will be built in the Ghatghar district, northeast of Bombay. It is due to enter service in December 2000.
