The turbine has been designed and manufactured by the Siemens Energy which will also erect 149 similar turbines which are expected to be operational next year.
PSE is currently building phase one of the wind facility in the Garfield County which is expected to generate enough electricity to serve approximately 100,000 homes.
PSE and its lead contractor, RES Americas, together with Siemens Energy and various subcontractors started building the Lower Snake River facility in May 2010.
Siemens will be responsible for all maintenance of PSE’s Phase I wind turbines, while PSE will manage the production and transmission of the wind facility’s electric power.
The companies built access roads and installed underground power cables which will deliver electricity generated by the turbines to on-site substations now under construction.
Work also is progressing on the project’s 15,000sqft operations and maintenance building on the outskirts of Pomeroy.
