US-based PSEG Nuclear has extended its nuclear outage and maintenance services contract with AREVA. The contract, which runs until 2022, covers work at the Salem and Hope Creek nuclear generating stations in New Jersey.
US-based PSEG Nuclear has extended its nuclear outage and maintenance services contract with AREVA. The contract, which runs until 2022, covers work at the Salem and Hope Creek nuclear generating stations in New Jersey.
Under the deal, AREVA will continue to provide technical support services to the Salem 1&2 pressurised water reactors and the Hope Creek boiling water reactor, which are located on the same site. Work will include support with refueling outages, inspections and steam generator services, AREVA says.
AREVA signed its first contract O&M contract with PSEG in July 2013, and operations began last autumn.
"We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with AREVA," said Bob Braun, senior vice president and chief operating officer for PSEG Nuclear. "This extension will further support our refueling outage efforts and the work of our dedicated employees."
PSEG Nuclear operates 3.5 GW of nuclear capacity at Salem-Hope Creek, and is also part owner of the Peach Bottom Nuclear generation station in Pennsylvania.
