The victor in the recent civil war in the Congo Republic is to continue the programme of privatization instigated by his predecessor, Reuters reports. Denis Sassou Nguesso’s government intends to carry on with plans to privatize state companies including the national power and oil companies.

His minister in charge of privatization has said that six companies at the top of the privatization list, including the state electricity utility, will be privatized within two years.

Sassou defeated Pascal Lissouba, the elected president, in October last year.
