The Hoang Nguyen wood processing company says it is spending US$17.6M on the construction of two hydroelectric power plants in Dac Ru and Quang Tin in the Central Highlands province of Dac Nong.

According to the Vietnamese News Agency, construction of the 7.2MW Dac Ru and the 5MW Quang Tin hydro plants started in October 2004 and will be completed in June 2006.

An agreement has been signed under which the plants will sell their electricity to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for a period of 10 years. Electricity generated by the two plants will be supplied to the districts of Dac Nong, Dac Song and Dac R’lap in Dac Nong Province.
