Alpha Energy will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for the Principal Solar-managed project.

Construction of the project will commence this month and is planned to be completed by the end of the year.

Alpha Technologies Services president and CEO Drew Zogby said: "We look forward to developing this important project to meet demand for solar energy in North Carolina."

The project is claimed to be the largest solar facility east of the Rockies.

Power generated from the plant is will be sold to Duke Energy under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
