PPL Corporation has announced that Clarence Hopf, president of its marketing and trading subsidiary PPL EnergyPlus, has resigned to take an executive position with New Jersey-based utility Public Service Enterprise Group. He will be succeeded by Robert Gabbard.

Mr Gabbard, an industry veteran with more than two decades of experience, joined PPL in June 2008 as senior vice president of trading. Prior to working with PPL, Mr Gabbard served as senior vice president of merchant trading operations of Delaware-based Conectiv Energy for three years.

William Spence, PPL’s executive vice president and COO, said: Joe has done an outstanding job of expanding the capabilities of our energy trading and marketing operation, putting in place an excellent management team. We thank him for his contribution to PPL and wish him well in his new position.
