The project, a two 600MW coal-fired power plant, will be located 420km south of Hanoi, the country’s capital. Poyry said that due to its size, location and technical sophistication, the Vung Ang project has been identified as a keystone in Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation’s (LILAMA) strategy, as well as an important part of Vietnam’s future energy generation capacity.
The Vung Ang power plant project is also a key strategic milestone in Poyry’s activities in southeast Asia. The assignment further consolidates Poyry’s position in the area and especially in the rapidly growing Vietnamese energy markets.
LILAMA is a leading plant erector in Vietnam and has its own manufacturing plants. The company is involved in Vietnam’s major construction projects, comprising thermal and hydro power, as well as oil and gas projects.
Poyry said that the E11 million will be included in the company’s order stock for the second quarter of 2007. Poyry’s net sales in 2006 amounted to around E620 million.
