Under the contract, PowerSecure will supply DG solution capable of offering cost and energy savings, and reliable backup power, to a large federal prison in the Midwest.
PowerSecure chief executive officer Sidney Hinton said: "This win represents a very significant cross-selling milestone for PowerSecure as the first DG project we have been awarded through our ESCO customer channel.
"We believe that the energy savings and power reliability the PowerSecure team can offer with multiple energy efficient solutions under one umbrella provides additional cost savings opportunities for our ESCO customers and streamlines the communication, scheduling and efficiency of projects.
PowerSecure will design, manufacture and install a new 1,250kW PowerBlock generator as well as provide more efficient air conditioning, air handling, refrigeration and steam system solutions at the facility.
The new generator can support the full load of the facility with reliable backup power and will deliver substantial cost and energy savings to the federal government.
Additionally, the PowerSecure team will update the facility’s existing 400kW emergency generator system to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s NESHAP requirements for peak shaving.
The upgraded system will be used to generate additional peak shaving savings for the government.
