The solar facility is incorporated on eight acres and is located at Berkshire School in Sheffield.
The power project is being developed by PowerPlay Solar Development in collaboration with Spire Solar Systems.
US based ML Schmitt is acting as the electrical contractor for the power project which is expected to begin operations in September 2011.
The project will generate up to 45% of the school’s electricity needs and is part of the broad sustainability master plan submitted by Berkshire students to the School’s Board of Trustees.
Spire is a full-service provider of large-scale commercial and federal solar systems, and a producer of capital equipment and turn-key manufacturing lines to create photovoltaic modules.
