The INR161m (€20.1m) turnkey contract covers the design, production, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 765kV, 400kV and 220kV AIS equipment, 765kV reactors for Bhiwani, as well as 50MVAR shunt reactor for one of the substations, all with civil works.
Substations to be upgraded under the contract include 765/400 kV at Bhiwani and 400/220kV substations at Hissar, Allahabad, Kanpur, Singrauli, Kota, Koteshwar, Rajpura, Panchkula, Patiala, Dhuri, Makhu, Mukstar and Nakodar in India’s northern region.
Alstom T&D India managing director Rathin Basu said, "Over 50% of India’s 765 kV extra-high voltage substations are built with Alstom technology and solutions, demonstrating Alstom T&D India’s significant contribution to the transmission backbone of the country."
Manufacturing work under the contract is scheduled to be carried out at the company’s manufacturing facilities across India.
The centrally connected 765/400 kV Bhiwani substation feeds power to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which strengthens Haryana’s transmission system and ensures a secure, reliable supply of power across North India.
Alstom T&D India had successfully commissioned 765kV and 400kV switchyard bays at Bhiwani for PowerGrid in 2012.
