Power Machines OJSC in consortium with Energico Oy and the Finnish company called Ruukki Oy have concluded a contract to manufacture and supply power generation equipment for a new power unit of Raahe TPP.

The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process, the winner of which became the Russian-Finnish consortium consisting of the Energico Oy company (Finland) – the consortium’s leader – and Power Machines OJSC.

In accordance with the contractual terms Power Machines are to design, manufacture and supply a 125 MW steam turbine complete with turbine generator to the customer. Besides, the Russian power engineering company is to perform installation supervision and commissioning and startup works for the equipment supplied. The Finnish consortium partners are to provide the supply of auxiliary equipment and installation works.

The launch of the new power unit is scheduled for 2016.

At present one 50 MW power unit is being operated at Raahe TPP. Its main equipment (turbine and generator) was produced in 1950s by the Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Electrosila plant forming part of Power Machines OJSC.

As a result of the implementation of the second power unit construction project the capacity of Raahe TPP will amount to 125 MW and also the turbine set of the first power unit will be put on standby and preserved.

The participation of Power Machines in the Raahe TPP project is a continuation of its successful cooperation with Energico Oy being a traditional partner of the power engineering company in Finland.

Earlier Power Machines and Energico Oy implemented the Jyväskylä? TPP construction project. The plant was launched in 2010. Within the framework of that project Power Machines provided the design, manufacture, supply and installation supervision of the steam turbine, auxiliary equipment and turbine generator with capacity of 200 MW.
