The $1bn power project is located on 25,000 acres near Wasco and was built in three phases.

Phase 1 of the project, completed in December 2007, is comprised of 76 Vestas wind turbines and has an installed capacity of 125MW, while the Phase 2 is comprised of 65 Siemens wind turbines with a total capacity of 150MW and was completed in August 2009.

The final phase is comprised of 76 Siemens wind turbines and has an installed capacity of 175MW.

PGE president and CEO Jim Piro said that the wind farm helps PGE meet Oregon’s Renewable Energy Standard, which requires the company to supply 15% electricity from renewable resources by 2015 and 25% by 2025.

PGE owns and operates the Biglow Canyon wind farm, which was developed by Orion Energy.
