Hungarian oil major MOL has confirmed that oil imports from the Friendship pipeline have dried up and that Ukraine has reported that its oil shipments from Belarus have also stopped. Furthermore, the Ukraine transit reserves were expected to dry up by the afternoon of January 9, 2007, bringing an end to onward deliveries to Hungary.
MOL’s own reserves enable uninterrupted operation of the Szazhalombatta Refinery. However, the company has also asked the Hungarian government to release strategic reserves. Hungarian reserves provide for more than 90 days of supply of crude oil and products.
Meanwhile, Poland’s largest oil company, PKN Orlen, has asked its government for access to state reserves, BigOil news has reported. Polish reserves could last for 80 days. However, PKN Orlen has stated that its operations continue unaffected for the time being.
