The developers of the 100MW Plei Krong hydroelectric plant in Vietnam have announced that the plant's first turbine will be put into operation by February 2008, and its second by May 2008.

Construction began on the project in November 2003 and more than US$220M has been invested in the plant. The management board has submitted detailed construction and installation deadlines, to ensure that the plant will be connected to the national electricity network on time.

The project’s lake has a storage capacity of 1050Mm3, with water saving having began in July 2006, two years earlier than planned. This has, in turn, helped to increase the electricity output of three hydroelectric plants downstream: La Ly, Se San 3 and Se San 3A.
