Plains Midstream Canada, an indirect subsidiary of Plains All American Pipeline, has restarted the southern portion of its Rainbow pipeline.

The company closed the pipeline for the past 10 days as a precautionary measure due to the threat from forest fires in the area.

The southern portion of the line runs from the Nipisi terminal to Edmonton, the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta.

The northern portion of the Rainbow pipeline, running from Zama in northwestern Alberta to Nipisi, remains closed because of a major oil spill last month.

US-based Plains All American Pipeline is engaged in the transportation, storage, terminalling and marketing of crude oil, refined products, and liquefied petroleum gas and other natural gas related petroleum products.
