BC Hydro and Williams Gas Pipeline has proposed that it construct a second natural gas pipeline running to Vancouver Island at an estomated cost of $100 million. The new gas pipeline will supply the fuel that is needed by the power plants located on Vancouver Island.

BC Hydro expects to be able to meet an in-service date of 2002.

The pipeline will originate at the interconnection point of Westcoast Energy and Williams’ Northwest Pipeline near the USA border, and it will terminate at a point near Duncan on Vancouver Island.
