The FMCG major and the laboratory will together develop a modeling and assessment tool to assess future product design, material sourcing, and manufacturing options using P&G’s manufacturing and supply chain knowledge with that of the EPA on environmental sustainability metrics.

The agreement and the sought improvements will address P&G’s long term environmental goals, outlined in September 2010.

Commenting on the agreement P&G vice president of product supply for family care Stefano Zenezini the tools are vital for the company to meet its environmental sustainability goals.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for us to be at the leading edge of developing tools to support the entire company’s effort to improve the sustainability of our products and our operations," added Zenezini.

The agreement signed between P&G and NRMRL will have a five year term.
