The company’s Lummus technology business will provide technologies required for the steam cracker complex comprising ethylene, butadiene, benzene, isobutylene and MTBE units.

Lummus Technology president Daniel McCarthy said the company is working with PETRONAS and is providing several key technologies from its petrochemicals portfolio.

"The RAPID project will allow PETRONAS to expand its products portfolio, capitalizing on the demand for higher value products in the region," McCarthy added.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed.

CB&I is an engineering, procurement and construction company and a major process technology licensor.

State owned oil company Petronas owns and controls petroleum resources in Malaysia.
