The new headquarters, to be built at Straulesti, Romania, where Petrom is currently developing an E10 million ecological rehabilitation project, will house a number of buildings, including a data center, which will support the activity of OMV and its subsidiaries from all over the world.
Petrom City will both produce and consume energy, which increases the energetic efficiency up to 90%. A combined gas-power plant coupling will allow the heat produced from the generation of electric power to be absorbed, transformed and used entirely for cooling the building in the summertime.
Meanwhile, in wintertime, this heat will be used directly for heating. According to Petrom, this concept is presently implemented by only 1% of the office buildings worldwide.
The company will allocate around E130 million for the realization of the Petrom City project, which includes the ecological rehabilitation of the plot, erection of the three office buildings, data center, power plant and garage, as well as for the construction of the roads infrastructure.
Following the tender process, the construction contract was granted to SC Alpine, and it is estimated that the construction works will start by the end of 2007.
