The three-year contract was awarded by the In Salah and In Amenas joint ventures which comprise of BP, Statoil and Sonatrach.
As a part of the contract, Petrofac’s Engineering & Consulting Services business will provide a range of multi-discipline consultancy, design and procurement services which will support the efforts of the JVs to develop and expand hydrocarbon production on both the assets.
Petrofac Engineering & Consulting Services managing director Craig Muir said the latest contract strengthens the company’s presence in Algeria.
"As a result, we will continue to develop our capability in Algeria, to establish a local engineering centre with strength and depth, supporting our longer-term sustainability in-country," Muir added.
"In addition to building our capability, we are committed to supporting In Salah Gas and In Amenas in their development plans and looking forward to undertaking the project scope."
The contract can be extended further with two additional one-year options. The firm noted that a significant proportion of the services is expected to delivered from Petrofac’s engineering centre in the city of Algiers.
