Operations of unidentified processing units have been temporarily suspended prior to beginning the maintenance work on infrastructure within the refining complex, Oil & Gas Journal reported citing release on the government of Ecuador’s official news site.
Refinery operations will be suspended for the 45-day period from 01 October – 15 November, according to a separate release from Petroecuador.
Ensuring local and national fuel supplies do not interrupt during the duration of the project, the company is continuing to operate the refinery units which are not undergoing active maintenance, as normal.
The Esmeraldas refinery rehabilitation intends to equip the plant to operate at 100% of its nameplate operational and production capacity while improving its environmental performance by reducing emissions levels that conform to national and international standards, according to a recent release from Ecuador’s Ministry of Non-Renewable Hydrocarbons.
The refinery rehabilitation and modernization is expected to be completed in late 2015, the state-run company said.
