The company’s contractor, DQE International, is drilling the well vertically to an estimated target depth of 1,750m.

The DT-9 well targets the Lower Tsagaantsav reservoir at a location 2.5km south of and 220m high to Petro Matad’s DT-4 well, which recovered oil-saturated core from the Lower Tsagaantsav.

Earlier this week, Petro Matad reported that its Davsan Tolgoi-8 (DT-8) well has reached a total depth of 1,850m in metamorphic rocks and has encountered oil.

Beginning at 1,670m depth, the DT-8 well penetrated a 127m gross thickness of the Uppermost Tsagaantsav Formation (the Uvgan Gol paleovalley).
