The projects will replace approximately 1.8 miles of aging pipe dating back to the 1920s, at an estimated cost of $2.4 million.
Starting next week, crews are installing nearly 7,200 feet of new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along Bower Hill Road (Mt. Lebanon) and 2,400 feet along North Wren Street (Scott Township). The company expects to complete the new main installation, testing and disinfection, and connecting customers’ service lines to the new main by the end of 2017, weather permitting, with final paving restoration scheduled for completion in spring 2018.
Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes. During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
