The Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department is a water utility in the southeast US, serving 2.2 million customers each day.

PESCO general manager Bill Hancock said the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer District is a remarkable operation, pumping over 300 million gallons of fresh water per day to the residents of the Miami metropolitan area

"We are excited to play such an integral part of the region’s public infrastructure through our supply of natural gas to the Department’s water processing operations," Hancock said.

The Water & Sewer Department spokesperson Jack Langer said the new agreement provides an economical and reliable supply of natural gas to the Water Department for a period of five years.

"We are pleased to be working with PESCO, and are confident that this new relationship will deliver significant benefits to the customers of the Water and Sewer Department," Langer said.

Natural gas supplies nearly one-fourth of all energy used in the US and is a domestic energy source serving over 64 million residential customers and over five million commercial enterprises in the US.
