Mexican oil major Pemex is set to develop a cogeneration plant at a gas-processing facility in southeastern Mexico, marking the country’s first such development.

The 250-300 MW plant will be located at the Nuevo Pemex gas plant in Tabasco state and is expected to require an investment of some $240 million.

The move follows changes to the electricity law which allow Pemex to sell excess capacity to the state power company CFE.
