Pattern Energ and Samsung Renewable Energy have collaborated to acquire wind power projects in the Canadian province of Ontario from Acciona and Boralex.

The power projects will be combined with their South Kent wind farm located in Chatham-Kent.

The South Kent wind facility, which is under development, is estimated to produce enough electricity each year to power more than 73,000 local homes.

Samsung and its partners have signed an agreement with the province of Ontario to provide 2500MW of new renewable energy, and to establish four manufacturing facilities in Ontario.

Pattern and Samsung have agreed to develop more than 500MW of wind power utilizing Ontario-made wind turbine components from the new factories in Tillsonburg and in Windsor.
