Pattern Energy and Samsung Renewable Energy have partnered to acquire wind power projects in the Canadian province of Ontario from Acciona and Boralex.

These projects will be combined with the companies’ 270MW South Kent wind farm located in the regional municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The wind farm, which is under development, is expected to generate enough electricity each year to power more than 73,000 homes.

Samsung and its partners have an agreement with the province of Ontario to provide 2,500MW of new renewable energy, and the first phase involves 400MW of wind power and 100MW of solar power.

Pattern Energy and Samsung have agreed to develop more than 500MW of wind power utilizing Ontario-made wind turbine components.
