Pattern Energy will own interest of 164MW in the project upon completion, while the remaining 36MW of capacity will be acquired by three institutional tax equity investors.

Currently under construction in Comanche County, near the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the project will feature 87 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines.

Pattern Energy CEO Mike Garland said: "We are pioneering new markets for the sale of our electricity to leading corporations like Walmart who are pursuing clean energy for their businesses.

"This project, which was only recently added to our ROFO list, demonstrates that our team can move fast to create value when opportunities arise."

The facility will connect to Oncor’s 138kV Comanche-Zephyr line, which crosses the project site and supplies power to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Pattern Energy has also assumed an obligation to make an equity investment following the completion of the project, as part of the acquisition.

With the acquisition, Pattern Energy increased its owned capacity by 11% to 1,636MW across 12 wind projects in the US, Canada and Chile.

Pattern Energy holds rights of first offer to Pattern Development’s project development pipeline, which features over 3000MW.
