The survey has confirmed the presence of kimberlite channels consistent with exploration model, the company said.

The target area is situated between a series of parallel, large dolerite dykes estimated to create a barrier to the flow of the palaeo-Letlhakane River.

Pangolin said the principal source area for the palaeo-alluvials is the diamondiferous Orapa kimberlite field. 

The company will carry out further GPR surveys to produce a detailed GPR map of the alluvial system, before drilling and pitting to identify the nature of the basal gravels.

The orientation GPR survey program will be extended over further kimberlite targets found as aeromagnetic anomalies related with areas where kimberlite indicator minerals have been identified.

Pangolin noted that the aeromagnetic anomalies are different in magnetic signature to the anomalies related with the MSC Grid area.

The orientation surveys are carried out to assist the evaluation aeromagnetic targets before drill selection.

The Malatswae kimberlite project covers 2,480km² and is situated 90km southeast of the Orapa mine.
