CRD-3X, which is aimed at proving sufficient recoverable volumes in the Cá R?ng Ð? (CRD) oil and gas/condensate discovery, is being drilled by the semi-submersible drilling rig Ocean General in a water depth of 337m.
It will be drilled to a planned total depth of about 3,686m.
Pan Pacific said the appraisal well will assess two sections in the field, Miocene sands and the underlying Oligocene sands.
CRD-1X, drilled in 2009, flowed oil and gas on test from two zones in the Miocene sands at a rate of 3,265.4 bopd plus 8.1 MMscf/d, through a 48/64" choke, with no water.
In 2011, CRD-2X tested the Oligocene sands, producing gas and condensate at 9.7 MMscf/d and 870 bopd through a 40/64" choke from one zone and 17 MMscf/d and 1730 bopd through a 56/64" choke from a second zone.
Premier Oil Vietnam South originally operated the Block 07/03 with 30% interest, while other partners included Pan Pacific Petroleum (Vietnam), PetroVietnam Exploration and Production, Vamex and PearlOil (Ophiolite) with 5%, 15%, 25% and 25% interests, respectively.
Talisman Energy is the new operator of the block, as its wholly-owned subsidiary recently acquired Premier Oil Vietnam South and Vamex.
