Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) plans to commence construction on the 122MW Keyal Khwar hydroelectric plant in April 2013.
Located on Keyal Khwar, which is a tributary to the Indus River in the Dasu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the plant will enlist an investment of $242.6m, reported Hydro World.
WAPDA said that the engineering design, and prequalification of firms for civil and electromechanical works were yet to be completed for the project.
The project is one of 15 hydro projects that WAPDA is currently developing as part of its low-cost energy generation and water storage plan expected to eventually include 26 projects totaling 21GW installed capacity.
