Siemens Power Generation is to build a combined cycle power plant and seawater desalination facility in Karachi, Pakistan.

Karachi-based DHA Cogen Ltd, an IPP placed the order. The plant will have an installed capacity of 94 MW and will produce approximately 14 million litres of drinking water daily. The plant, which is scheduled to come on line in early 2007, is a key component of a $600 million infrastructure project being implemented by the Defense Housing Authority.

Siemens will supply an SCC-1000F Single-Shaft combined cycle power plant, turbine-generators and other components. The order also includes commissioning of the two units, the heat-recovery boiler, and the auxiliary and ancillary systems. Alfa Laval will supply the two-train desalination plant.
