The solar power plant will be built on a 50 hectare piece of land. The plant is expected to start commercial operations in August, 2019, after a 23-month construction period.

When commercial operations will start, the plant is expected to generate about 48 million kilowatt hours of annual electricity, while offsetting about 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, had the electricity been generated using conventional fossil fuels.

Pacifico Energy has entered into a power purchase agreement with Tohoku Electric Power Company to sell all the power that is generated in the Iwaki solar plant.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the solar plant’s construction has been awarded by Pacifico to Toyo Engineering. And, Trina Solar will provide the photovoltaic (PV) modules for the project.

Previously, Pacifico Energy started the construction of the 257.7MW Sakuto solar plant in April this year. The plant is located in Mimasaka, Okoyama. This solar plant is expected to start is operations in September 2019 and it will take a construction period of 30 months.

The solar plant is expected to generate about 290 million kilowatt hours of annual electricity, while avoiding 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Apart from these projects, the company has to its credit two completed solar power plants in Okayama, located in Kumenan and Mimasaka. It is also constructing the 96MW solar plant in Miyazaki.
